What Corporate Travel Buyers Really Want in 2025 — And How Destinations Can Deliver It

The corporate travel and MICE landscape has been reshaped fundamentally by the events of the past several years. As companies recalibrate their approach to meetings, incentives, and events, destinations and DMCs that understand the new priorities of corporate travel buyers will capture disproportionate value.

Here is what we are hearing from senior corporate travel buyers in our network — and what it means for destination strategy.

1. Purpose is Non-Negotiable

Corporate social responsibility is no longer a box to check. Travel buyers at major multinationals are required to demonstrate that every significant event or incentive programme has a measurable positive impact — environmental, social, or both. Destinations that can offer credible, well-designed CSR experiences embedded within a programme will win mandates. Those that cannot are increasingly eliminated from consideration.

2. Smaller, More Frequent, More Meaningful

The era of the 2,000-delegate mega-conference is not over, but the growth is in smaller, higher-quality gatherings. Executive retreats, senior leadership incentives, and specialist conference formats — all in the range of 40 to 200 delegates — are where corporate buyers are increasingly directing budget. This has significant implications for venue selection, destination capacity planning, and product design.

3. The Experience Imperative

Corporate travellers are sophisticated leisure travellers in their own right. They will not be impressed by a generic gala dinner in a hotel ballroom. They expect the destination to come alive within the programme — through exclusive access experiences, authentic cultural encounters, and moments that feel genuinely extraordinary. At Destination Atelier, designing those extraordinary moments is precisely what we do. We bring the full depth of our destination knowledge and creative intelligence to every MICE brief — because we believe that a well-designed incentive or conference experience is one of the most powerful tools a company has for driving loyalty, motivation, and culture.
